Christie's salutes cowboys, Indians in western auction

Christie's of Los Angeles will auction off American Indian art and western memorabilia on Nov. 6 in its Beverly Hills auction house at 560 N. Camden Drive.

Saddles by Ed Bohlin, western outfitter for Hollywood producers and stars, will be auctioned, as well as Kevin Costner's badge from "Wyatt Earp."Also for sale are Posters of Buffalo Bill and Samuel Cody; autographed vintage photos, including Annie Oakley standing tall with a gun in hand, Clint Eastwood smirking and Geronimo perched on a horse; American Indian products like an effigy pipe, a rare totem pole and 19th century quilled hide moccasins; and a collection of Southwest and Plains Indian art.

All items from the Western and American Indian Art collection will be on view at Christie's Los Angeles Nov. 2-5. The auction is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Nov. 6.
