Red Cross appoints 3 to key posts

The Greater Salt Lake Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has hired Diane Smith as director of health and safety services, Kathryn Warner as volunteer services coordinator and Lynda Wendel as finance director.

Smith will be responsible for administering first aid and CPR programs and all duties related to aquatics including water safety and lifeguard training. She also will supervise the HIV/AIDS education, rural health and safety and workplace health and safety programs for the chapter.Warner will coordinate the 2,300 volunteers for the chapter's programs. She has worked with battered women and at-risk youth and was responsible for coordinating volunteers at the Young Women's Christian Association in the residence program.

Wendel will manage the financial operations of the chapter including accounting, budgeting, auditing, accounts payable, receivables and payroll.

Last year, the chapter assisted 116,627 people with emergency needs and health and safety training, help educate 2,379 migrant workers and 17,422 children were taught how to swim by Red Cross instructors.
