Death: Roy Loertscher

Roy Loertscher, 84, died peacefully at home, with his family around him, on October 27, 1997.

He was born April 19, 1913 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Frederick Loertscher and Hilke Smit Loertscher. He married Dorothy May Rush, April 20, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. For over 20 years, Roy was well known for his role as "Papa Caleb" in the LDS Church production of Promised Valley.Through the years, Roy was involved in service oriented businesses - mail, newspapers, coal, feed and grain and milk delivery. He recently retired, after 47 years, as Heber Valley distributor and district manager for the Deseret News. Countless unknown numbers of people have benefited from his acts of compassionate service.

Survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his 12 children: Paul (Violet); Barbara Bonner (Bert); Max (Ardean); Melinda Deffendol (Scotty); L. Rush (Shana Lee); Jennie Clawson (David); Brian (Carla Rae); Scott (Anne); Brooke Pedersen (Rex); Kim (Sue); Melody Hill (Scott); Rilla Tischner (Dave); 71 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, brothers; David W. Loertscher and Joseph Loertscher.

Grandpa will be greatly missed. He made life fun!

Funeral will be Thursday, Oct 30, 1997 in the Midway Stake Center, 165 N. Center, at 11 a.m. Viewing 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct 29, 1997 at Olpin Mortuary, 288 N Main, Heber City and one hour prior to service at the church.
