4 seek 2 seats in Clinton races

Four candidates, including two incumbents, are vying for two open seats on the Clinton City Council. One candidate, Kenneth F. Wills, was eliminated in the October primary.

The candidates are incumbents Merline Mitchell and William R. Russell, along with challengers Joanne Hansen and Lori Miller.Mitchell led the balloting in the primary, with 159 votes, followed by Hansen with 142, Russell with 112, and Miller at 100.

Mayor DeMar Mitchell is running unopposed.

Turnout in Clinton's primary was only 14 percent, and city officials have expressed hopes that voters will turn out in higher numbers for the general election.
