The family of a Taylorsville man turned him in to South Salt Lake Police Thursday night for his alleged role in the Saturday night beating of two convenience store clerks at 2700 S. 400 East.
Police believe the man is the same one seen hitting and kicking a female clerk on the store's surveillance videotape, said South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Beau Babka.Police also believe he is also responsible for beating a second female clerk outside the store.
Four men entered the 7-Eleven store at 2:40 a.m. Saturday and stole beer, cigarettes and other small items, Babka said. No money was taken. So far, the three other suspects have not been identified.
Mike Luta, 18, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery.
