A tractor-trailer broadsided a school bus Friday morning on a fog-shrouded highway, killing the bus driver and injuring at least 18 children.
The tractor-trailer ran into the driver's side of the bus as it crossed busy highway U.S. 50, nearly severing the front of the bus.The injured were taken to Easton Memorial Hospital and the Meridian House of the Pines, a nursing home close to the scene, where the hospital dispatched a medical team, said hospital spokeswoman Patty Willis.
Willis said 18 children have been treated. The extent of their injuries was not known.
It was not known how many children were on the bus.
