Death: Winifred Valois Smith Bostrom

Winifred Valois Smith Bostrom, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Oct 2, 1997 in Mt. Pleasant, UT, where she has resided since 1985.

She was born Oct 6, 1901, to Robert Smith and Winifred Love Smith. She married Joseph A. Bostrom, Oct 20, 1934. He died in 1978. Their marraige was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a longtime resident of East Millcreek and the old Evergreen Ward. Although she had no children of her own, she was known as "Aunt Valois" to everyone.Her mother died when she was four years old and she was raised by her aunt, Margaret Anne Cook. As a young woman, she worked as a telephone operator. She was loved by all for her sense of humor and her infectious laugh. She delighted everyone by quoting poetry and singing songs she remembered from her youth. Her keen mind allowed her to almost always win a Scrabble game, work a crossword puzzle, play her harmonica, or sing a song in the German language.

Her brothers, Bert and Dave, and her sister, Margaret, preceded her in death. Ralph and Larae Pitts and family are her only surviving relatives.

A viewing will be held Sunday evening Oct 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City. Graveside service will be held Monday Oct 6, at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
