The Polynesian Cultural Center has been informed it will receive Hawaii's award of excellence - "The Oihana Maikai Award," center Pres. Lester W.B. Moore announced Sept. 30. He explained that the center is only the third organization - and the first attraction - in Hawaii state history to receive the award.

The award, which means "Endeavors of Excellence," will be presented to Pres. Moore by Gov. Ben Cayetano in Honolulu during an awards banquet Oct. 22.
