Logan Cave closing early because of damage

The U.S. Forest Service close Logan Cave this week a few days earlier than expected because of damage caused by visitors.

The Forest Service said continued vandalism, littering and other problems could jeopardize continued recreational use of the cave, which has been closed most of the year to protect the Townsend's big-eared bat.The cave was reopened in early September and was to have remained open through early October.

Logan Cave is one of the few roosting and birthing areas for the bats in the Cache National Forest as well as northern Utah.
