Death: Maria D. Gonzalez

Maria Dominguez Gonzalez, 54, of Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico, died Friday, October 3, 1997, at the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center following a sudden, undetermined illness.

Maria was born December 4, 1942, in Veracruz City, and graduated from Veracruz University. She worked 24 years for the LDS Cultural and Educational Society (Sociedad Educativa Y Cultural) in Mexico. She was an elementary school teacher for seven years, and an elementary school principal for 17 years at the "Ignacio M. Altemirano" Elementary School in Veracruz City. She was also a high school teacher. She was a poetry writer, and wrote more than 1,000 poems. Maria was working on her first poetry book to be published in 1998.Survivors include her two sons and a daughter, Ricardo, Ariel, and Tania; four grandsons, Anthony, Austin, Alejandro, and Ricardo; her mother, Antelma Dominguez; sisters and brothers, Irma Rosado, Amelia Theodosis, Miguel Dominguez, Carlos Dominguez, Arturo Dominguez, and Jorge Dominguez; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was admired, respected, and loved by her family and friends. Her presence will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 1997, at 12 noon at the Buena Vista Ward, 1401 West 700 South. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and Wednesday, one hour prior at the ward. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
