Death: Helen Gear Birch Riser

Helen Gear Birch Riser, our beautiful mother and affectionate grandmother, age 86, passed away Friday October 3, 1997 in Salt Lake City, UT.

She was born July 2, 1911 in Eureka, UT. to William and Luella Sherwood Gear. She married Emron Max Birch in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1939 and later moved to Salt Lake in 1942. Helen was active in PTA in the 1950's and in 1955 began working for ZCMI in the cosmetic department at the downtown store. She eventually became a manager and represented Elizabeth Arden cosmetics for 25 years. She received many service awards and business awards through her association with the American Business Women's Organization.After Emrons passing in 1969, she married Jesse G. Riser in 1977. He passed away in 1984.

She is survived by daughters, Helen (John A.) Halander, SLC; Barbara (Dale) Bradley, SLC; and Marilyn (Scott) Keller, Palm Desert, CA.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, William "Bill" Gear, Spokane, WA.; and sister, Gloria (Rusty) Rife, Springville, Ut. Preceded in death by sister, Merle.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 1997 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park - Northmont section. Family and friends may call 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr.
