Death: Mary Janis Van Cott Shockey ""Lambie""

Our sweet, beloved mother, grandmother, wife and friend, passed away october 6, 1997.

She was born March 20, 1926 to Dr. Earle and Cleo Van Cott in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lambie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was one full of love, service and devotion to her family and to all of those who knew her. The love and warmth she radiated will be greatly missed.She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and the University of Utah, earning a degree in Microbiology. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and as a young girl, was a member of Job's Daughter's and later served as a guardian of Bethel 1. She was a member of the PEO organization. Her proudest achievement was earning her private pilot's license and flying co-pilot with her favorite pilot-her husband, Don.

She leaves behind many fond memories of Christmas Eve and parties, summer BBQ's, un-announced visits to family and friends and a Christian love and service to all she knew and touched. Her grandchildren will miss her hugs and kisses and unconditional love.

She married Milo P. Smith in 1946 - later divorced. Married Donald E. Shockey in 1975.

She is survived by her husband, Don; son, Steve M. Smith; daughter, Martha (Gary) Hunt; son, Brett (Lucy) Smith; stepsons, Richard E. (Pat) Shockey, Ronald K. (Robyn) Shockey, and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1300 East 777 South. Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to services.
