Across Nebraska's rolling prairies,
There's a story whispered drifting thru
The Badlands and the Black Hills,
Land of the Cheyenne, Land of the Sioux
Westwind told it to the willows that were
growing by a little stream
Wanbli, the spotted eagle, circling way up above cried, "Summer Lightening is coming Home".
And the echo came softly back saying
Summer Lightening sends her love.
It had been a long time since she started out to roam,
But all of the little creatures on the prairie know that they have no need to fear,
For there is nothing that will harm them as long as Summer Lightening is near.
