SHARE Contest lets teens speak out

After the deaths of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa, Chris Hill realized how little he knew of the two women. Hill is a student at East High School and also the student board member for the Salt Lake City School District.

Hill says he felt the two deaths, happening within a week of each other, could have a positive effect on local students. To allow students to share their thoughts and discover more about the two women, Hill came up with the idea of an essay contest.To involve as many students as possible, Hill, with the East High School Board of Control, organized the contest among intermediate schools and high schools in the Salt Lake School District. Winners were Alberta Theodore from East High School and Megan Ingram from Bryant Middle School.

The East High School student body officers served as judges for the contest. The Direct TV division of Matrix Marketing provided prizes.
