Former Summit County teacher C. Bryant Copely watched in delight for nearly a half century as his students grasped and then mastered difficult math lessons.

Last week Copley, 99, a 1917 University of Utah alumnus, met another student whom he will help educate, even though he has long since retired from his North Summit High School classroom.Caroline Hutching of Farmington visited Copley's Coalville home with administrators from the U. College of Science.

Last year Copley gave the U. a sizable amount of stock for an endowed scholarship in the U. math department. Annually, nearly $3,000 is given to a top student.
