A 17-year-old boy escaped unharmed following what police describe as an attempted kidnapping Saturday.

The teen was driving near 800 W. Center St. about 3:30 p.m. Saturday when another motorist flagged him down. The second motorist asked the boy for directions to a car wash, said Provo Police Lt. Greg Du Val.When the teen leaned up against the window of the other vehicle, the driver pulled him partially into the car and began to drive away, Du Val said. With the teen still dangling from the car's window, the man asked him for money. When the car stopped momentarily, the boy jumped out of the car and ran to a nearby home, where he called police.
