Irma Adell (Irmadell) Evans DeGraffenried, 74, died Saturday, November 1, 1997 in her home in Santaquin, Utah of heart failure.
Born February 10, 1923 in West Jordan, Utah, to Irma Gardner and Edmund R. Evans. She married Charles E. DeGraffenried on March 25, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died earlier this year.She was known for her acts of service, her sewing and gardening abilities, her sound advice, her faith in the gospel of Christ and her great love for her husband and family. She raised her children in South Jordan and Santaquin and taught them to love and serve each other. She had many close friends and was happiest when she was busy planning for and helping others. She was active in the LDS church all her life serving as Primary and Relief Society President, in the ward Young Women's presidency, as Stake Young Women's President and as a temple worker. She was a Guide Patrol leader in South Jordan and was Stake Camp Director. She served as a visiting teacher for more than fifty years and she filled a stake mission with her husband.
She is survived by her children: Jane (Paul) Webecke, West Point, Utah; C. Edward (Pam), Kanosh; Joy (Greg) Campbell, Marysville, WA; James E. (Carla), Paula (Craig) Evans, John (Lynette), all of Santaquin; 38 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Pendleton, Springville; Ruth Gould, Spanish Fork; Jean Bingham, Georgetown, CA; brothers: Roger Evans, Boise, ID; George Evans, El Dorado Hills, CA.
She was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, November 5, 1997, at 11 a.m. in the Santaquin Stake Center, 90 South 200 East, Santaquin. Friends may call at Holladay Hills Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the stake center, one hour prior to services. Interment, Santaquin City Cemetery.
