On Saturday, November 1, 1997, Elbert G. (Bert) Adamson passed away at the age of 88 doing what he loved best, hunting ducks at the Harrison Duck Club.

Bert was born June 12, 1909, to George Hunter and Effie Garrick Adamson in Hunter, Utah. The third of seven, he grew up in Holladay where he learned from an early age how valuable (and fun) time spent in the great outdoors could be. He took these early experiences and developed them into a love of hunting and fishing which he vigorously pursued for the rest of his life. Bert was also a great lover of books and a constant fixture at the city and county libraries. In fact, it is rumored that the late fines from his books still pay for the lighting today.Bert served on an LDS mission in England. He met Beatrice Quist when he returned, and after a long courtship, married her in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 12, 1936, his birthday. He never forgot his wedding anniversary.

He spent his professional life building homes and developing property. He served as president of the Utah Homebuilders Association, vice president of the National Association of Homebuilders and as president of Model Homes, Inc. and the Harrison Duck Club.

He is survived by his wife Beatrice, his sons Craig (Joanna), Bradley and Brian (fiancee, Melissa Lawler), and his grandchildren Christopher, Robert, Brent (Pam), James, Stephen, Jennifer, and Anne. He is also survived by his brother Bradley of Portland, Oregon and many dear friends.

He had a warm heart, a quick wit, and was a great and gentle tease. He liked nothing better than doing things with his friends and family in the great outdoors.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, at 12 noon in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
