Myrtle Cutler Somsen, 83, died November 1, 1997, at her home in Murray.

Born in Salt Lake City, October 23, 1914, to Frank Cutler and Mary Elizabeth Davey Cutler. Married Laren Alfonzo Somsen on May 6, 1933.Myrtle was an active member of the LDS Church and the community. In Murray she was bookkeeper for Cook Lumber Co. for 15 years and part of the office staff at Murray High School for eight years. She was one of the original members and past-president of the Business and Professional Women and was the designated driver for lunches and other outings for the last surviving members until her health declined. She also belonged to the local chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Survivors include daughters, Elaine S. Anderson (Paul), Los Altos, CA; and Barbara S. Petersen, Salt Lake City. Also, five grandchildren, Michael, Eric, Kenneth, Rolf and Sara; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Zachary.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister; a son, Michael in 1957; and husband Laren in 1993.

Services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 1997, 11 a.m. at Park LDS Ward, 435 East 5600 South. Friends may call Tuesday evening, November 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Wednesday, 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 941 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84106.
