Adeline s. Allison, formerly of Walnut Creek, California, died Saturday, November 1, 1997 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Good Shepherd, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 5, 1997 with Rev Darryl Anderson, Pastor of Good Shepherd, officiating.Adeline Jane Speirs was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William and Melissa (Cooley) Speirs, February 3, 1904. She was the granddaughter of LDS pioneers, George and Adeline Speirs and Andrew and Jane Cooley. She graduated from West High School in 1920. During the mid 20's she lived in Washington, DC, working and attending George Washington University. She returned to Salt Lake city working for CAA and FAA until 1941. In 1932 she married Harold O. Allison and as a military wife, moved around the country, until her husbands retirement in 1955, settling in Walnut Creek, California, for 31 years. She was an active member of the American Red Cross, Grey Ladies, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority an the Republican Party. In 1986 she moved to Minnesota.
Survivors include her children, Jim and Audrey Waggoner, of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Charles and Marian Thompson, Peoria, Illinois; grandchildren, Allison J. Waggoner, Sartell, Minnesota; Jim and Mary Jo Waggoner Jr., Sartell, Minnesota; Audrey Thompson and Craig Van Laningham, Salt Lake City, Utah; Charles and Kaarin Thompson, La Jolla, California; Barbara Thompson and Joseph Gilray, Corvallis, Oregon; great-grandchildren, Melissa Jane and Jessica Audrey Waggoner, and JC Waggoner III, all of Sartell, Minnesota; and Thomas Evan Gilray and Annika Audrey Gilray, of Corvallis, Oregon.
Preceded in death by her husband, Col. H.O. Allison, infant daughter Vione, sister, Jessie Vione Speirs, and brother, William Leigh Speirs.
