Clair H Johnson, 87, passed away October 31, 1997.

Born August 27, 1910 in Manti, Utah to Ellis E. and Clara Hall Johnson. Married Leah F. Thompson in 1939, in Salt Lake City; later divorced. Married Norma Clayton, November 16, 1979 in Salt Lake City. Graduated from Manti High School, Snow College and Gregg Secretarial College in Chicago. Member LDS Church, the Gyro Club, and the Salt Lake Country Club. Served as an Official Shorthand Reporter in Utah from September 1, 1931 to September 1, 1975. Served as member of Board of Directors of National Shorthand Reporters Association, President of Utah Shorthand Reporters Association, and member of Representative Committee of Certified Shorthand Reporter, State of Utah. He was a well-known gemologist. Veteran of World War II, having served in CBs and US Navy.Survivors: wife, Norma, of Salt Lake City; daughters, Susan (Michael) Gebhardt, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Jane (Michael) Hart, of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; brothers, Harold Johnson, of Florida; Kirt Johnson, of New York.

Funeral service Thursday, November 6, 1997, 11 a.m. Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 South, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
