A woman was injured while trying to put out a kitchen fire Monday morning.

Donna Clark, 55, was cooking in her house, 4171 S. Jupiter Drive (3735 East), Salt Lake County, about 10:30 a.m. when some butter in a pan caught on fire, said Salt Lake County Fire Capt. Mike Riley. The woman tried to put out the fire and tipped the pan toward her.The butter spilled on her arms and legs, causing second-degree burns on 30 percent of her body, Riley said. The fire was out when fire crews arrived and did not cause further damage.

Clark was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital Burn Center for treatment.
