John Harvey Jones, MD, passed away on November 4, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a healthy and full life of hunting, fishing and golf.

He was born August 19, 1908 in Payson, Utah, to John Robert and Mary Lula Jones. He was raised in Magna and was graduated from Cyprus High School in 1927. He was graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1932 and was graduated from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1934. He spent a year in Saginaw, Michigan and was a Resident at Louisville General Hospital. On July 5, 1938 he married Marie Ruf Jones in Dubuque, Iowa. They moved to Salt Lake City, where he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for 30 years and retired at age 65. He was a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association and the Utah Medical Society. He was a member of the Fort Douglas Golf Club where he was champion in 1957 and 1962. He was also a member of The Hidden Valley Country Club and the Newstate Duck Club.He is survived by his wife, Marie; sons, John, Mark and Marvin, all of Salt Lake City; daughter, Cynthia Hocking, in Oregon; sister, Mary Low Davis, in Magna. Also survived by five grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Jones, Zackery and Wesley Jones, and Millicent Hocking.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 1997 in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Latona Section) Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Thursday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to their favorite charity.
