Elmer Clyde Johnson, 86, passed away Nov. 3, 1997 in the Porter Care Center in St. George, UT.
He was born Sept 26, 1911 in Adamsville, UT, to Charles Johnson and Catherine Lydia Jones. He married Margie Maxine Blackburn, Nov. 4, 1932 in Adamsville, UT. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on Nov. 4, 1997. Their marriage was later solemnized May 6, 1965 in the St. George Temple.Elmer was a rancher, farmer and dairyman. Elmer and Clarence Rollins were the first dairyman in Beaver County to ship milk to Highland Dairy. He loved to ride horses and gather cattle. He grew lots of corn to give away to people.
Elmer was survived by his wife, Margie; three children, LoAnn (Gene) Weight, of Las Vegas, NV; Carla (Dale) Eyre, of Minersville, UT; Clark (Karren) Johnson, of Kanab, UT; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Ronald (Lois) Johnson, Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Della (Clarence) Rollins, of Beaver, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Leah Harris and Mildred Smith, and one brother, Boyd Johnson, and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. in the Minersville LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Thurs., 7-9 p.m. at the Olpin Mortuary in Beaver and Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary.
