The Vancouver Canucks' dreary road trip is finally over. Along the way, they lost five games and their general manager.
Hours after Pat Quinn was dismissed as president and general manager Tuesday, the reeling Canucks dropped their eighth straight game, 2-1 to the Washington Capitals.Peter Bondra scored the game-winner with 12:17 remaining, and Olaf Kolzig stopped 25 shots as the Capitals won for the first time in 17 days following a 0-4-2 streak.
Washington's problems weren't nearly as profound as those experienced by Vancouver, which was outscored 24-11 on the five-game road trip and hasn't gotten a point since Oct. 21. At this juncture, the Canucks aren't interested in winning one for the departed Quinn or for coach Tom Renney.
