Current Salem Councilman Gary L. Warner retained his seat on the City Council in Tuesday's election, while Randy A. Brailsford will continue in his position as Salem's mayor.

Warner received 373 votes, the most votes cast for a council candidate, according to complete but unofficial election results. He has served one four-year term on the council."I feel like maybe with getting the most votes, maybe my last few years have been something good," Warner said.

He plans to continue working on projects that have occupied his attention during his past four years on the council, such as completing a recreation complex and updating main roads in the city.

Joining Warner on the council will be Earl M. Davis, who received 367 votes. Davis was pleased with his win. "We're excited. We're looking forward to it. It's going to be fun. Of course, it's going to be a lot of hard work, too," he said. When asked what his focus will be as a member of the council, Davis said, "I think the biggest issue is listening to people. . . . I think that's the main thing that I want to do."
