Thomas Ralph Butterfield, age 90, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 2, 1997.
He was born on July 19, 1907, the son of Thomas Solomon and Elizabeth Bowlden Butterfield, in Herriman, Utah. He married Cornelia Jane Crane on June 3, 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple. His family, the Lord and the LDS Church were the most important things in his life. He served as bishop twice and in numerous other church callings. He served in the British Mission, as a stake missionary, and on a mission to Wales with his wife. After retirement he dedicated his time to genealogical research. He was a loving husband and father, and will be remembered for his service to others and his testimony of the gospel.He is survived by his wife, Cornelia C. Butterfield; children Warren Ralph (Jean) Butterfield, Sherman, TX; Seth James Butterfield, Ogden; Ann (ElRay) Bridges, Frannie, WY; daughter-in-law Sylvia D. Butterfield, Ephraim; Ralphene (Clifford) Gann, Boise, ID.; and Helen (Gary) Parke, Centerville; 30 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Also by brothers and sisters, Isabell Bills, Marjorie Torkelson, Lester Butterfield, Mildred Crane, Edith Newman, Earl Butterfield, Hazel Sorensen and Merrill Butterfield. He was preceded in death by son, Frederick Bowlden Butterfield, grandson, Cole Butterfield, brother, Reed Butterfield and sister, Jessica Bills.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8th at 11 a.m. at the Waterloo Ward Chapel, 1623 So. 500 E., Salt lake City. Viewing will be Friday, Nov. 7th from 6-7 p.m. at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 So., Salt lake City and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Herriman, Utah Cemetery.
