Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Hester Gold Hardman Fossett, age 99, passed away of natural causes on November 1, 1997, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Hester was the fifth daughter born to Cyrus H. Gold and Louisa Newman Gold on November 9, 1897. She married Joseph Mitchell Hardman on February 19, 1918. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, July 10, 1919. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1947. She married John Howard Fossett on October 11, 1956. She loved her great-grandchildren, grandchildren, family and friends, and always gave herself to help others. A devoted member of the LDS Church, she served in many positions, giving of her time, talents, and love. Hester was an accomplished seamstress, having graduated from the Reister's Ladies Tailoring School of Salt Lake city. She and her children were always dressed in their finest by Hester's love of needle, thread and fabric. She was also an active member of the PTA and the Eastern Star.Her daughter, Mrs. George (Ruth) Dudley, son-in-law, Dale E. Sutherland, seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by both her parents, both husbands, her siblings, her daughter, Rebecca Sutherland, and her son, Don J. G. Hardman.

Viewing will be held at Deseret Mortuary, Sat., Nov 8, 10-10:30 a.m. at 36 E. 7th South. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, on Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your favorite local charity.
