Sandy's Steve Schneiter has been voted the winner of the Puffer Player of the Week Award for his victory at the Western PGA Club Professional Championship Saturday at El Paso, Texas.
Golfers on all tours are eligible for the award, presented by executives at Sabol Sports. The previous two winners were David Duval and Bill Glasson of the PGA Tour. The 34-year-old Schneiter, who shot a final-round 71 to win the $20,000 first prize, was earlier named Player of the Year in the Utah Section PGA.Local amateurs Kurt Bernhisel, Steve Brinton, Heber Jacobsen, Jerry Knudson, Bill Pizza, Cliff Snyder and Sam Williams will represent Utah in the National Team Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz., Dec. 8-10. They will compete with golfers from 29 states in the tournament hosted by Resort Suites of Scottsdale, Grayhawk Golf Club and Troon North Golf Club.
