Children sparked a major security alert at a British dockyard on Thursday after they were found with ammunition from tanks heading from Bosnia to the United States.
Police said bomb disposal experts were called into Liverpool docks in northern England after parents found children with bullets from the Russian-built T-55 tanks that were headed for a U.S. militia museum."The bullets were either obtained by the youths or staff may have handed the bullets out as souvenirs. They are heavy machine gun and light machine gun rounds," a police spokesman said.
He said more ammunition had been found on the tanks, which bomb disposal experts are sealing before they complete their journey to the United States.
Police have appealed to people to hand in any other rounds that may have "gone astray."
