Byron Richard Sumner, born March 27, 1929, in Provo, UT, died Monday night, Nov. 3, 1997 in Provo, UT.

Byron worked at Geneva Steel Co. from age 15 until his early retirement at age 52 because of a heart aneurism. Afterward he continued doing consultant work for the company in various countries. He married his childhood sweetheart, Iretta Peterson of Provo and later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Byron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous positions including veil worker for the Provo Temple and a guide at the Provo Tabernacle. He enjoyed making friends wherever he went and will be missed by his friends in the community.He is survived by his widow; a daughter,

Keven; two sons, Jim and Stan; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services Monday, Nov 10, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street in Provo. Friends may call at the mortuary one hour prior to the services on Monday. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
