A faulty furnace is to blame for a fire that broke out in an LDS Church stake center Wednesday morning, doing $500,000 in damage.

A jogger saw flames coming out of the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 275 E. 500 South, about 5:30 a.m., said Pleasant Grove Police Capt. Tom Paul. The jogger called the Pleasant Grove Fire Department.The blaze broke out in a furnace room above and at the back of the chapel. Fire officials determined the origin was mechanical in nature.
