Mikhail Gorbachev was all smiles as he left a Swiss hospital, eager to put to rest worries about his health.

"The rumors that I am dying are over," the 66-year-old former Soviet president told Swiss television after the medical tests were done and he left a hospital in Bern Thursday. "There have been suggestions circulating that I am in a terrible condition and am close to death. But that's just not true."He coughed frequently during a news conference later in Basel, where he emphasized once more: "I myself feel healthy." He was to undergo more tests Friday.
