The Provo Planning Commission has approved Novell Inc.'s plans to construct two buildings at its campus in southeast Provo.

The company intends to build an eight-story and a five-story building south of its existing buildings in the East Bay Business Center. The buildings, totaling 585,000 square feet, will front 1860 South, the new road that connects University Avenue and State. Novell also will build a parking lot to accommodate 1,287 cars.Work could start next spring and be complete in 2000.

Novell announced in August plans to expand its Provo headquarters and move about 1,400 employees now working in Orem to the site over the next two years. The company employs about 2,800 in Utah.
