Should English be the official language of the United States? It is extremely important that you let your members of Congress know your answer to this question. This is one of the most divisive and hotly contested issues ever to be debated in the halls of Congress.
On one side are those who believe English should be the official language of the United States. They believe fragmenting the people along lines severely damages our nation's unity and that it is the obligation of those who come to live here and benefit from our services and our freedoms to learn our language. On the other side are pressure groups fighting to make America officially multilingual. They are not concerned about the effects of turning America into a jumble of competing languages. They want government to provide its services from voting ballots to tax forms, to driver's license exams in Spanish, Vietnamese, Japanese and who knows how many other languages. What is the world coming to? Just a few years ago immigrants to our shores saw America not as a land of free services but a land of opportunity. And they took it as a source of pride and fundamental necessity to learn our language to be successful, contributing citizens.
If you love America will you write now to your Congress to pass HR123.
I love America and am ready to fight for her.
