Earl Bertrand Lundquist passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov. 6, 1997, of natural causes.
He was born August 3, 1916, in Ogden, Utah, to Henry Gustav and Olive Gardiner Lundquist. He married Faye Broadhead in the Salt Lake Temple on August 31, 1940.Earl was raised in Ogden, and attended Ogden High School and Weber College, and graduated from Brigham Young University School of Business with a degree in accounting in 1938. He was a Certified Public Accountant and active in the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. He worked for W. W. Clyde Construction Company as a comptroller and for the United States Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, retiring after 32 years in 1977. He then maintained an accounting practice until 1992.
Earl was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as High Priest in the Monument Park 4th Ward. An Eagle Scout, he served in various scouting programs for many years. With his wife Faye, he served a three-year Park Cambodian Mission, beginning in 1987.
Earl was an outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed hiking, hunting, photography, and skiing. He also loved music, travel, model railroading, and reading, especially biographies and LDS doctrine. He has touched many lives by his kindness and his willingness to be of help to others.
Earl is survived by his wife Faye; a daughter, Ann L. Bjorklund (Jay R.), Sandy, Utah; two sons, Alan Earl (Janice Weinhagen), Salt Lake City, Utah, and David Daken (Laura VanWagenen) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Todd E. Bjorklund, Kara B. Olschewski, Elisabeth Lilja, Kristen Lilja Andrew A. Lundquist, Erika Lundquist, and Danielle Lundquist; and three great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Thomas Jay, and Anna. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth L. Rebentisch of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, C. Andrew and Dr. Stephen J. Lundquist.
The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Terrace Ahlzheimer's Center for the loving and tender care given to Earl.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 10, 1997, in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive where friends may call on Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Earl's name to a favorite charity.
