The Utah Classical Guitar Society will present Brazilian guitarist Fabio Zanon in a recital of classical guitar music on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. in St. Mark's Cathedral, 231 E. 100 South.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for students/senior citizens, and can be purchased at Acoustic Music, 857 E. 400 South. For more information call 801-531-7066.Since receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in 1988 from the University of Sao Paolo, Zanon has won numerous prizes in international guitar competitions, including second prize at the Andres Segovia International Guitar Competition in Spain in 1991.
For his concert here, Zanon will perform two works by the contemporary composers Ronaldo Mir-an-da and Alberto Ginastera.
In addition to these, there'll be three keyboard selections transcribed for guitar by Zanon: a group of four sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, the Sonata in A minor, BWV 1003 by J.S. Bach and four pieces from Robert Schumann's "Album for the Youth."
A reception, to which all concertgoers are invited, will immediately follow the recital.
