Maria Muldaur, the singer who brought us "Midnight at the Oasis," will play the Celebrity Theater at the Inn at Prospector Square, 2200 Sidewinder Drive, on Sunday, Dec. 21.
Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and the concert begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $13 in advance at all Dan's Foods, Acoustic Music, Local Music and Salt City CDs in Salt Lake City; Park City Performances, Dan's Foods and the Inn at Prospector Square in Park City. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 1-888-322-WDOG.Those who would rather not drive up Parleys Canyon can catch the Wooden Dog shuttle that leaves Green Street in Trolley Square at 4:15 p.m. and Lumpy's on Highland Drive at 4:30 p.m. on concert days. The shuttle will return from Park City following the concert.
Muldaur was born and raised in Greenwich Village around bluegrass, jazz, blues, folk and gospel. She eventually moved to North Carolina to take part in Doc Watson's back porch gatherings and sing-ins, before moving to Woodstock, N.Y. She also rubbed shoulders with Bob Dylan, the Band and Janis Joplin.
In 1974, Muldaur released "Midnight at the Oasis," which became her trademark tune. Since then, the singer has also released a duet album with Dr. John, "Sweet and Slow," and a handful of other albums such as "Louisiana Love Call,' "Fanning the Flames" and "Transbluency."
