Defending national champion Arizona was beaten by a couple of long shots.

LaMarr Greer scored a career-high 26 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the final 1:44, to lead No. 17 Florida State over the No. 5 Wildcats 84-79 Tuesday night.The biggest basket was Greer's off-balance 25-footer that just beat the shot clock to give Florida State an 82-77 lead with 50 seconds left.

Greer made 11 of 13 shots from the field and all three of his 3-point attempts for the Seminoles (9-2).

Mike Bibby scored 26 points, including six 3-pointers, for Arizona (7-3).

KANSAS 74, SOUTHERN CAL 69: At Los Angeles, Raef LaFrentz had 17 points and nine rebounds and Kansas (14-1) overcame 16 first-half turnovers to win its sixth straight.

KENTUCKY 75, AMERICAN 52: At Lexington, Allen Edwards scored six of his 16 points during a 14-0 spurt as Kentucky won its eighth straight game.

SOUTH CAROLINA 90, SOUTH CAROLINA ST. 85: At Columbia, BJ McKie scored a career-high 32 points and outplayed high-school rival Roderick "Moo Moo" Blakney (26 points) to lead South Carolina to the win.

CONNECTICUT 72, MASSACHUSETTS 55: At Hartford, Richard Hamilton scored 21 points and Connecticut played tough defense to beat Massachusetts.

IOWA 81, ST. BONAVENTURE 67: At San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ryan Bowen scored 16 points and Ricky Davis added 15 as Iowa won the Christmas San Juan Shootout.
