An undisclosed amount of cash was taken at gunpoint from a woman trying to make a bank deposit Monday night.
The woman, an employee of one of the businesses at University Mall, was attempting to deposit the day's receipts at First Security Bank, 1175 S. State at 11:45 p.m., said Orem Police Lt. Bob Conner.As the woman walked toward the night deposit box, a man with a gun jumped from behind a nearby bush and demanded the money. After taking the cash, the man ran north toward several businesses and attempted to jump a retaining wall, police said.
The woman's brother, who was inside a car waiting for her to make the deposit, chased the robber to the vicinity of 1000 South and 400 East, where the suspect jumped into the passenger side of a waiting car and drove away. The car was a white four-door with a fin on the back.
Police are searching for a male in his early 20s with a husky build. He was wearing a blue flannel shirt and blue jeans with a knit stocking cap on his head and was carrying a semi-automatic handgun.
