The woman, an employee of one of the businesses at University Mall, was attempting to deposit the day's receipts at First Security Bank, 1175 S. State at 11:45 p.m., said Orem Police Lt. Bob Conner. As the woman walked toward the night deposit box, a man with a gun jumped from behind a nearby bush and demanded the money. After taking the cash, the man ran north toward several businesses and attempted to jump a retaining wall, police said.

The woman's brother, who was inside a car waiting for her to make the deposit, chased the robber to the vicinity of 1000 South and 400 East, where the suspect jumped into the passenger side of a waiting car and drove away. The car was a white four-door with a fin on the back.
