Randy McKay scored his second goal of the game with 3:08 to play and the New Jersey Devils rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the New York Islanders 4-3 Friday night in East Rutherford, N.J.

The win snapped the Devils' season-high three-game winless streak (0-1-2) and gave New Jersey a 3-0 record against the Islanders this season.Denis Pederson and Scott Stevens scored second-period goals to rally New Jersey from a 3-1 deficit. McKay then scored the game-winner when he broke in from the left side after taking a nice pass from defenseman Lyle Odelein.

McKay faked taking a forehand shot at New York goalie Tommy Salo and then tucked a backhander inside the goalpost.

Sergei Nemchinov, Robert Reichel and Bryan Berard scored for the Islanders, who have lost two straight after going undefeated for four games.

Martin Brodeur overcame a shaky start and made 17 saves in leading New Jersey to its 15th win in 19 home games.

After falling behind twice by two goals, the Devils tied the game at 3-3 when Pederson and Stevens scored a little less than three minutes apart.

Pederson got his seventh goal of the season from right in front on a power-play set up by Dave Andreychuk's pass from behind the net.

PANTHERS 5, HURRICANES 2: At Greensboro, N.C., Ray Whitney scored twice as Florida beat Carolina.

Carolina has lost seven of its last eight games and hasn't scored more than two goals in a game since beating the New York Islanders 5-3 on Dec. 3.

RED WINGS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 1: At Detroit, Brendan Shanahan set up two goals, including a milestone score by Steve Yzerman, as Detroit ran its winning streak to four games.

Shanahan keyed a first-period burst that saw the Red Wings score three times in 91/2 minutes.

SABRES 3, RANGERS 0: At Buffalo, N.Y., Dominik Hasek stopped 28 shots for his fifth shutout in 11 games this month, leading Buffalo over New York.

It was Hasek's second shutout this week over the Rangers. He made made 33 saves in Buffalo's 2-0 victory on Monday.

PENGUINS 4, CAPITALS 1: At Washington, Jaromir Jagr had two goals and an assist as Pittsburgh defeated Washington.

Pittsburgh snapped a four-game winless streak. Washington is 1-4-4 in its last nine games.

BLACKHAWKS 4, BLUES 1: At St. Louis, goalie Jeff Hackett stayed hot by making 20 saves, and Dmitri Nabokov had a goal and an assist as Chicago snapped St. Louis' four-game unbeaten streak.

COYOTES 4, SHARKS 0: At San Jose, Calif., Keith Tkachuk scored three goals and Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 30 shots for his third shutout of the season as Phoenix beat San Jose.
