The win snapped the Devils' season-high three-game winless streak (0-1-2) and gave New Jersey a 3-0 record against the Islanders this season.Denis Pederson and Scott Stevens scored second-period goals to rally New Jersey from a 3-1 deficit. McKay then scored the game-winner when he broke in from the left side after taking a nice pass from defenseman Lyle Odelein.
McKay faked taking a forehand shot at New York goalie Tommy Salo and then tucked a backhander inside the goalpost.
Sergei Nemchinov, Robert Reichel and Bryan Berard scored for the Islanders, who have lost two straight after going undefeated for four games.
Martin Brodeur overcame a shaky start and made 17 saves in leading New Jersey to its 15th win in 19 home games.
After falling behind twice by two goals, the Devils tied the game at 3-3 when Pederson and Stevens scored a little less than three minutes apart.
Pederson got his seventh goal of the season from right in front on a power-play set up by Dave Andreychuk's pass from behind the net.
