BYU's Adams resigns

Soni Adams announced today she's stepping down as BYU's women's basketball coach, effective immediately.

Adams, who just finished her third year with the Cougars compiling an 28-55 record, said the resignation will allow her to pursue other career interests. The Cougars finished the season with a 11-18 record.

"I felt good about the progress the team made the latter half of the season, and they are headed in the right direction," Adams said.

Adams came to BYU after four years as head coach at Salt Lake Community College where she went 77-37.

Women's athletic director Elaine Michaelis said that search for Adams' replacement will begin immediately.
