A key piece of welfare reform legislation affecting the reorganization of the state Industrial Commission passed the Senate Friday and now goes on to the House for further consideration.

SB166 would place most of the duties of the state Industrial Commission in a new Labor Commission and create an executive di-rec-tor's position to oversee the new agency. The measure has been seen as a victory for business groups that wanted the Industrial Commission to remain outside state Workforce Services, the state's new welfare agency.
