A bill that would have restricted nudity in strip bars and other public places was defeated Friday in the Utah Senate.

Republican Sen. Craig Taylor's bill, SB244, would have required dancers in night clubs to fully cover their pubic regions, buttocks and breasts. The measure was supported by conservative groups but opposed by the American Civil Liberties Union and others, who said the bill was an infringement on civil liberties. The measure narrowly passed the Senate Judiciary Committee last week.
