A Murray man is in jail after prosecutors say he kidnapped and sexually assault his wife Monday.
A woman told authorities that the man came into her "dwelling" uninvited early in the morning and forced her to go with him to a field near U-111 and 7800 South. There the man forced her to perform sex acts against her will, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court.Prosecutors say the man slapped the woman several times, banged her head against the car's steering wheel, pulled her hair, choked her and hit her with a socket-wrenchlike tool during the assaults.
The man later told some people that he had not hurt the woman "that bad" and that he was sorry he had hurt his wife "while in a rage," the documents state.
The 44-year-old man was charged with aggravated kidnapping and three counts of aggravated sexual assault, all first-degree felonies. He is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
