Boyd Kent Gardner, 68, died March 6, 1997 of injuries sustained in a farm accident.
He was born December 17, 1928 in Honeyville, the son of Leon Dewey and Annie Margaret Madsen Gardner. He married Merle Jean Thompson on September 10, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many organizations. He was a dairy farmer.He was serving as Honeyville Mayor at the time of his death. Served on the Utah Dairy Commission for 20 years; was in the United Dairy Industry for 10 years, served on the board of the Federal Land Bank for nine years, 1980-1989. He won the Utah Young Farmer of the Year Award in 1958, and the distinguished Farmer Award for the Future Farmers of America in 1973.
He is survived by his wife, Jan of Honeyville; five children, Shauna Ann Robbins (Larry), Tremonton; Craig K. Gardner (Michelle), Honeyville; Jan G. Dixon (Sterling), Kaysville; Julie G. Nelson (Scott), Sanger, Calif.; and Lisa G. Hyde (John), Honeyville; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by step mother, Mary H. Gardner; two brothers, J. Rex Gardner and Arthur Ott Gardner; four sisters, Rula Jean Sorenson, Barbara Rose Avondet, Mary Jo Wight, and Adrianna Forsgren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 1997, at the Honeyville LDS Ward Chapel, 2620 West 6980 North, at 11 a.m. Friends may call on Sunday at the Olsen-Meyers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, at the church, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Honeyville Cemetery.
