The Justice Department has awarded another $893,506 to help eight Utah police agencies to hire additional officers.

Those receiving grants include American Fork, $225,000 for three officers; Clearfield, $75,000 for one officer; Farmington, $75,000 for one officer; and Lehi, $150,000 for two officers.Others are Salem, $74,511 for one officer; Springville, $75,000 for one officers; Weber County Sheriff's office, $143,996 for two officers; and Woods Cross, $75,000 for one officer.

The program is part of President Clinton's pledge to help put 100,000 community police officers on the street.
