Grant Walter McDonald, age 71, passed away April 25, 1997 at his home.

Born October 15, 1925 in Ruth, NV, to Walter and Elma Alder McDonald. Married Dora Anderson, 1953, in Price, UT. At the time of his death, Grant was the mayor of Sunnyside. Served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Grant worked in various coal mines in Carbon County for 22 years and also worked as a M.S.H.A. inspector for 20 years prior to retiring in 1990.He was a graduate of Wasatch High School, the College of Eastern Utah with an Associates of Science and an Associates of Applied Science in Mining Technology. He was a graduate of WellTech where he received his degree as an Electronic Engineering Tech. In 1980 he graduated from the University of New York with a Bachelors of Science. He was a graduate of the National Mine Health and Safety Academy in Beckley, West Virginia. He was a member of Carbon Lodge #16 F & A.M., Shriners, York Rite, and a life member of Price Elk's Lodge #1550.

He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dora McDonald, Sunnyside; three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Sharon and Gene Weeks, Riverton; Roxie and Wade Gagel, Draper; Dixie and Lynn Tawzer, Mesa, AZ; Steven and Gayle McDonald, Huntington; and Mark and Shirley McDonald, Sunnyside; brothers and sisters, Ivan McDonald, Heber; Max McDonald, Sandy; Rex McDonald, Lyman, WY; Donna Hone, Sandy; Ruth Ivie, Heber; and Reta Sessions, Heber; also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Leta Berd, and a brother, Nile McDonald.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 29, 1997, 1 p.m., at the Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's, Tuesday, one hour prior to services. Friends are welcome at Mitchell's, Monday, from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Interment Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside, UT.
