Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and teacher, John D. Gaylord Johnson, 77, died April 29, 1997 in a Salt Lake hospital after a short illness.

Born November 11, 1919 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to John G. and Hilur Louisa Dalman Johnson. Married Marie Esther Clark April 23, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an educator for Jordan School District, active in the LDS Church-had served as bishop in the Liberty Ward, stake clerk in the Riverton Stake, and was presently working in the Jordan River Temple. Served as a pilot during World War II in the U.S. Air Force.Survived by wife, Marie; son and daughters, Michael D., Esther Marie, and Marilyn Louise; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Pearson, Winston, Oregon. Preceded in death by a brother, Roland.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m, at the Riverton 8th Ward, 12340 So. 2700 West. Friends may call Friday eve, 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 West, and one hour prior Saturday, at the church.

Interment, Riverton Cemetery.
