When I read the story of Jens Dietz's death, I was saddened because I know from experience it could have been prevented. Dr. Dana Clark said all the things I wanted to say. My nephew was a 7-year-old diabetic, and he was monitored closely by his parents night and day and now has seven children of his own.
I have had diabetes for 38 years and am now 70 years old with fairly good eyesight and no loss of limbs or kidney failure. I attribute my long life to a "caregiver" husband who watches over me day and night and even now tells me what to do.All teenagers and parents can face the challenges of diabetes biellitus by obeying the rules and having a caring doctor and responsible person to watch over them.
